MOROCCAN BEDROOM!
I got this idea from: http://pinterest.com/pin/165577723770867338/
I couldn't stop thinking about it! I loved her work and had to have it in my house!
Here is the DARK boring guest room before:
AFTER:
So here's the How- To:
First I googled "Moroccan shapes", clicked on images, then printed it out. I cut it out traced it on cardboard, then cut it out again. I taped a level on the cardboard cut out to ensure the stencil would be straight and everything would be even at the end.
I traced the pattern in pencil
Then painted over it with a small brush!
Finished!
DOOR HANDLES
I decided that I could no longer live with my gold door handles. I price checked multiple stores and the cheapest door handle I could find was $9.99 for ONE door handle. I decided to find a way that would be much cheaper but still get the look I wanted... three words... Metallic spray paint!
Materials:
- Door handles you can't wait to change
- Metallic spray paint (I used Metallic Oil Rubbed Bronze)
- 220 grit sandpaper
- Electric drill or screwdriver
- flat space to work
Here is a picture of the spray paint I used:
1. Take off door handles by unscrewing the screws (you can use an electric drill for this part)
2. Hand sand the parts that you will be spray painting (just lightly enough to put some scratches in it- this will allow the spray paint to stick better) This picture shows a handle with sanding (back) and without (front).
3. Spray paint the handle. I found it easier to turn them upside down first and paint them, wait about 15 minutes then turn them right side up and paint the front. Don't forget to spray paint the screws as well. I used an old cork board and it was easy to push the screws in and make holes to hold the door handles.
4. Let them dry 15-30 minutes (I was very impatient... 15 minutes felt like forever!)
5. Use a hand held screw driver to re-attach to door- DO NOT use an electric drill- it will scuff the door handle and leave marks on the handle.
6. Step back and admire :)

8.10 | For 25 door handles!- That’s less than buying ONE new handle! |
Tips and Tidbits:
- Make sure the door handle is dry before you pick it up of it will smear and you will need to start over again
- I was able to do all 25 door handles in one day, the process might have gone quicker if I would have been patient and let everything dry before I tried to re-attach the handles to the doors
- I was also conscious of making sure I finished the upstairs rooms first then moved to the down stairs so I had an easier time locating where the right handles went
GUEST BATHROOM
When we moved in our guest bathroom looked as though it had a debut for Micky D's or that there had been a ketchup and mustard fight... I'm not sure what look they were going for, but I knew it had to go.
See I told you it was pretty bad...
